OFC: Tough weekend for Titans

Bantams
The Titan Bantams and their opponent, the host Peterborough Wolverines,  engaged in an offensive shootout in their Canada Day weekend game. 
Despite the Titans offense generating a net 486 yards, the Wolverines prevailed by a score of 53-30.
Titans head coach Stephen Elliott emphasized in his post game talk to  the players how pleased he was of his team never giving up and playing  to the end.
That was evident with time running out in the fourth quarter with the  Titans on the Wolverines seven yard-line trying to score one final  touchdown.
Alexander Filippini scored two touchdowns including the game opener on a 60 yard pass completion.
Filippini almost had his third touchdown in the fourth quarter returning a 106-yard punt to the Wolverine three yard line.
Other touchdowns were scored by Timothy Baljet (2) and Aidan Challis.
Challis had his best passing game of the season thus far tossing 21 times for 11 completions for a whopping 178 yards.
Both defences struggled in this game, but the Titans held the Wolverines to 433 yards.
Tackles were led by Tristin Finelli (5), Jamshied Shamlou (4), and Brett  Switzer, Brandon Newman, Cole Gronwall with three each.
Christopher Smyk and Josh Melo each came close to sacks creating  incomplete passes by the Wolverine quarterback in the first half of the  game.

Peewees
The Peewee Titans made a trip to London to face the Thunderbirds losing this contest 55-6.
Matthew Curtis made the most of his time on the field, returning five  kick-offs for 59 yards on special teams, running 27 yards with a 34-yard  pass to Callum Challis as quarterback, and two sacks on defence.
Devlin Forsyth completed an 80 yard pass reception from Nick Mardner who was under siege in this game.
Chris Elliot scored the lone touchdown in the fourth quarter breaking tackles for a 54-yard gallop into the end zone.

Junior Varsitys
The Junior Varsity squad experienced their first loss of the season to the Sarnia Sturgeon 21-8 in Sarnia.
The Titans trailed only 6-0 at the half, but offensive turnovers led to points by the Sturgeon.
Thomas Knapp scored the lone Titans touchdown in the fourth on a screen pass.
The Oakville Titans play their home games during the OFC season at Bronte Field on Lakeshore Road W. in Bronte Village.
On Saturday, the Junior Varsitys head to Sudbury to battle the Gladiators at 1 pm.
The Bantams and Peewees are in action on Sunday in opposite ends of the province.
The Bantams head to Toronto to battle the Jr. Argonauts at 11 am, while  the Peewees head to Chatham for a 1 pm kickoff against the Cougars.
