James Dunlop started his career in the spring of 2015 as a mosquito with the Kemptville Jaguars.

James has playing experience on both side of the ball as he played quarterback and wide receiver with the Jaguars, and now outside linebacker, kicker and halfback for the National Capital Amateur Football Association’s (NCAFA) Rideau RedBlacks.

In the offseason, the usually plays most of the sports offered by his school, with his favourites being soccer, cross country, basketball, and track and field.

He also spends almost everyday from the beginning of spring to the end of fall outside with his brothers running routes, working on passes and improving tackles.

For this upcoming Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC), James has some key objectives,

“My goals for the Ontario Prospect Challenge are to contribute to the team one hundred per cent and improve on my overall skills in football,” said James.

In the future, the RedBlack hopes to play at the University of Ottawa. From there he would like to get scouted and play for the CFL’s Ottawa RedBlacks or be drafted to the NFL to play with the Green Bay Packers.

“My idol is Jordy Nelson of the Green Bay Packers because of his work ethic on and off the field and that is how I always play for my teams and hopefully the way I will play if I make it to the Ontario Prospect Challenge game,” explained the RedBlack.

Overall, he is passionate about playing the sport for one main reason.

“The thing I love most about football is the adrenaline rush that you get when you make an amazing catch or touchdown pass or if I make a great tackle or sack,” commented James.
