Thunder tamed

OVFL:Β  Junior Varsity Thunder fall short in opener

The junior varsity Toronto Thunder suffered a disappointing 43-6 loss at the hands of the junior Cumberland Panthers.

In the first game of the 2013 season, the junior Thunder were outmatched by the Panthers in a game punctuated by offensive mistakes. The Thunder offense committed three fumbles, two of which were returned for touchdowns by a lively Cumberland defense.

Offensively, the Thunder had a tough time getting anything going gaining only 143 yards in the game. Quarterback Connor Smith had the lone Thunder touchdown on a one yard plunge.

Defensively the team was led by lineman Nathaniel Anderson who had nine tackles (6 assisted, 3 solo), defensive back Nh’Shaun Allen who posted six tackles (2 assited, 4 solo) and a batted ball, linebacker Conner Lindeman who had three tackles (1 assisted, 2 solo) and a forced fumble, and Trey Wright who had an assisted tackle and an interception for the Thunder.

Coach Bubba and the team will try and rebound as they host the Kingston Grenadiers on June 1st, kickoff at 5 pm.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
