1)      LAFONTAINE CHIMES IN ON CIS FOOTBALL

In a recent interview with the Chronicle Herald’s Chris Cochrane, CIS CEO Pierre Lafontaine talked about CIS football.  One of the things discussed was trying to find ways to improving television coverage after the OUA’s deal with Sportsnet fell through this past August. One option being looked at is a “National Game of the Week” as opposed to “OUA Game of the Week”.  Lafontaine recognized that TV coverage is important when it comes to CIS football.

Another discussion point was the question of whether the CIS has become a “two tiered” system.  Lafontaine offered that the CIS is considering hosting a football summit to look at this and several other issues all with the ultimate goal of making improvements.

“We need the TV there, we need the CFL there, we need Football Canada there, we need to look at the whole product in general,” commented Lafontaine to Cochrane.
