CFC OFC Game of the Week Preview: “It’s always tough going on the road”

The varsity Toronto Jr. Argos achieved their first win of the season this past weekend over their rival Peterborough by a score 36-9.

“Nothing like winning a rivalry game,” tweeted star receiver Matt Crocker. Crocker sparked the Argos offense early in the contest with a 25 yard over the shoulder touchdown catch from quarterback Calvin Vaughn.

The Argos defense stepped up this week and didn’t allow any points in the second half of the game. A big improvement from the previous week’s game in North Halton where 66 points were scored against them by the Crimson Tide.

Stephen Adjei-Bediako set an Argo kick return record after returning a punt from the back of the end-zone for a touchdown.

The Argos will revel in their first victory for the next couple days but have their sights on the Nipissing Wild this weekend.

“It’s always tough going on the road,” said Jr. Argos Head Coach Carlo Onorati, “But our team is coming together, and I’m confident in what we can do”.

The Varsity Argos will look to extend their winning streak against the Nipissing Wild on Saturday at 2pm at the Omischel Sports Complex.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
