Who’s ready for another edition of the CFC25 musical chairs?
Quebec never fails to provide a storyline each week, and this time around Dalbe-Viau were the victims. The perpetrator was Estacades, who bounced back in a big way with a 35-14 victory, which was a much needed boost of confidence after suffering their first loss of the year to Saint-Joseph. The top dogs in Juvenile DII are all trading shots this season, and at this point it’s not about any skill gaps, but instead whichever team is better prepared for the task at hand every week. Estacades will need to quickly turn their attention to College Bourget in the season finale, who will be looking to lockup their first round bye and can’t afford to falter with Dalbe-Viau owning the tiebreaker in the Western Division. In the Eastern Division, there’s no concerns for Estacades and Saint-Joseph about losing their first round bye, but they can’t slip up now with seeding still on the line. Every team qualifies for the playoffs, and if the past is any indication, there will be an upset or two along the way so stay turned for more twists and turns before the Bol d’Or is awarded.

After making a big judgement call in BC and heaping praise on John Barsby as a top ten program, they couldn’t handle the heat in a defensive battle with Argyle this week, who snuck away with a 3-0 victory. It creates a situation where outside of Robert Bateman, it seems like the field is wide open at the AA Varsity level, so expect plenty of shakeups down the stretch as we head towards the playoffs. It’ll be interesting to watch the Coastal Division playout with Langley, John Barbsy, Ballenas and Argyle all looking like dark horse contenders.
We had a pair of big matchups in Alberta, but no real surprises. W.H. Croxford gave it a go against top five Cochrane, but couldn’t hang for four quarters as the Cobras prevailed by a score of 28-16. Elsewhere we had a big showdown in Calgary for top spot in Division II between Our Lady of the Rockies and William Aberhart. This game could’ve gone either way with not much separating the top programs this season, but William Aberhart found a way to come out on top with a 8-2 victory. They now sit tied with Crescent Heights with only one game left in the regular season, and if we are lucky these two will meet in the playoffs after avoiding each other on the schedule thus far.
Lastly we’ve got a new Ontario team featured on the rankings this week as St. Mary’s look like the team to beat in Owen Sound, but they will need to prove their mettle against Saugeen with both programs entering this week’s matchup undefeated at 3-0.
