#CFC27: Carleton makes a move, RSEQ & Canada West teams remain in Top 5

On the heels of a successful recruiting haul in a span of a week, the Carleton Ravens made the biggest noise in the latest update of the #CFC27 CIS CLASS 2016 RECRUTING RANKINGS.

Giordy Belfiore commitment 1

In a span of a week, the Ravens announced on CanadaFootballChat.com the commitments of four recruits, including three #CFC100Β Vancouver pivot Giordy Belfiore who is fresh off a stint with Canada Prep RaidersΒ started the domino effect.

Tyrell Richards commitment 1

Then, #CFC100 defensive back Tyrell Richards signed with the team,Β which solidified that he will be reunited with former teammate, #CFC100 Ricardo Barrett.Β  Both recruits helped St. Roch Ravens of the Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Association (ROPSSAA) to a historic first ever OFSAA Bowl win.

Nigel Goodridge OPC 1 2015

Soon after, #CFC100 running back Jevante Stanley committed to the Ravens. Β The team capped off their big week with the announcement that #CFC100 and Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) participant Nigel Goodridge joined the team.Β Β The 6’2, 180 pound receiver from Oakville, Ontario played for Canada Prep Raiders most recently.

Jonathan Mayne

Meanwhile, the McGill Redmen extended their lead at the top of the rankings with the additions of McMaster transfer defensive lineman Griffin Harding as well as a trio of CEGEP recruits – linebacker Jonathan Mayne, defensive back Antoine Mongeau and wide receiver Dominic Perron.

Khalil Kerr commitment

Montreal Carabins remain in second spot but added to their total with the commitment of CEGEP running back Khalil Kerr.

Michael Palumbo 1

As for the Saskatchewan Huskies, the team inched into the third spot as the team landed two out of province recruits.Β  Offensive lineman Michael Palumbo Jr joins the Huskies after completed his career with Notre Dame Pride of the Calgary Senior High School Athletic Association (CSHSAA). Moreover, the Huskies secured a recruit from the West Coast as Abbotsford, British Columbia pivot Noah Dietrich.

Emerson Smith

Not far behind the Huskies in fourth place is their CWUAA’s rivals Alberta Golden Bears.Β  2015 #CFC100 linebacker Troy Hansen highlighted the team’s newest additions.Β  Furthermore, Quincy transfer kicker Brent Arthur, British Columbia two-way player Emerson Smith and local standout Brady Gonek also joined the Golden Bears.

Slipping two spots but still holding on to a spot in the top five is Laval Rouge et Or.

Since its release in 2016, both the OUA and AUS teams have been shut out of the top 5.

Overall, 22 out of 27 teams were officially ranked on the #CFC27.Β  Out of 22 teams, seven teams moved up in the rankings while nine teams slid.Β  Moreover, six teams remained in the same spots since the last update back on January 18th. Finally, five teams do not have enough recruits to be ranked on the #CFC27.
