There are three undefeated teams going into Week Three of the 2015 MMJFL Β season. Two of these teams go head to head this weekend.

The Eastside Eagles have been to three of the last four Major Junior Championships. The St. Vital Mustangs have been to three of the last four Major Junior Championships. After two games in the 2015 season the Eagles are undefeated sporting a 2 & 0 record with a 109 points for, Zero points against tally.Β  After two games in the 2015 season the Mustangs are undefeated sporting a 2 & 0 record with a 69 points for, 20 points against tally. However in the first game of the season the Mustangs took down the reigning champions of the Major Junior League the Fort Garry Lions.Β  This game should be an exciting, no holds barred, donnybrook, with lasting repercussions for the rest of the season.

The other undefeated team, the St. James Rods are hosting the boys from Brandon, the Wolverines on Saturday afternoon. The Rods are bigger, faster and stronger than they’ve been in many years. St. James has also added a few more quality coaches to their staff, having some considering them to be a favorite for making the playoffs. The Westman Wolverines, with a new head coach , are coming out of the gate a little slow. It will be up to Coach Brady Dane to hasten their development if they want to see any football after the regular season.

In the final game of the weekend, the Reigning Champions, the Fort Garry Lions go to Transcona to greet the newest member of the MMJFL the Nationals.Β  The Nationals are doing well with a one and one record while Fort Garry, with their bye last week, are still seething from their loss at the hooves of the Mustangs. Although still early in the season, the Lions feel that they have to win this game to stay in contention for a playoff spot. If the Nationals can muster a win, the crew from the rail yards will have established their credibility and will be proclaimed as contenders. Much is on the line for both teams.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
