CFC25 Small School Rankings WEEK 6: Competition heating up across Canada

TOP HEADLINES

  • Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out. It looked like Deux-Montagnes was poised to run the table, but Triolet had another set of plans as they improved their record to 4-2 while handing the Centurions their first loss of the season with a 21-14 victory. This leaves the DII standings with Deux-Montagnes and College de Levis tied at the top with 5 wins, then we’ve got a massive traffic jam from third to seventh with Dalbe-Viau, Saint-Joseph, College Laval, Triolet and Roger-Comtois all sitting on four wins with only two weeks left before playoff time. This week’s slate of games promises to provide all the drama with Deux-Montagnes taking on College de Levis, Triolet facing off against Roger-Comtois, and Dalbe-Viau locking horns with Saint-Joseph.
  • It was a tough week for George McDougall, who failed to find a way past their rivals Cochrane falling 9-6 in a close contest. It’s almost a guarantee these two will meet again in the Rocky View championship bout where the Cobras will be looking to bring the trophy back to Cochrane after watching George McDougall raise the trophy two years in a row.

CFC100 CLASS 2026 RANKINGS

  • In other news out of Alberta, Austin O’Brien join the rankings after rattling off their third win in league play against Paul Kane. The Crusaders are always tough to judge because they play in the top division in Edmonton with top tier programs like Harry Ainlay, Spruce Grove and Salisbury, but always come up clutch in November when the DII playdowns begin. Lastly, get ready for a clash of the juggernaut programs as Holy Trinity Academy prepare to take on Raymond in the game of the week across Canada. Despite being classified as a Tier I program and ranked top five on the CFC50 Rankings, Raymond are actually one of the smallest schools with a football program in the country with a student body of around 250. It’s impressive every time you read that stat.

  • It’s officially playoff time in Saskatchewan as Greenall and F.W. Johnson both wrapped up perfect 6-0 regular season campaigns in their respective divisions. It’s a huge accomplishment, but the job is far from done with Greenall still needing to unseat the champions from Weyburn when it matters most, while F.W. Johnson needs to avoid hubris after cakewalking the RIFL Stewart Division outscoring their opponents 229-17. Up north in Saskatoon, Bishop J. Mahoney have one more game on their schedule before heading into playoff mode.

  • Tec Voc continue to sting the competition in Manitoba improving their record to 6-0 with another blowout 38-0 victory against St. John’s. They now prepare to take on John Taylor in the season finale, who are making their first appearance on the rankings after securing their fifth straight victory in a tight 21-19 win over Beaver Brae. Could this be a preview of the AAA championship? Or do we have Cinderella story waiting in the shadows?
