CFC25 Small School Rankings WEEK 7: Another top 10 renovation

TOP HEADLINES

  • How many more twists and turns does this season have? The top ten endured another huge renovation this week as John Taylor staked their claim as the best AAA program in Manitoba with their 38-23 victory over Tec Voc to finish the regular season 6-1. They now earned the top seed going into the playoffs, but they know the road to the championship won’t be easy with Tec Voc looking for revenge, and Fort Frances looking to reclaim their title – who were the only team to best John Taylor in the season opener. The playoffs begin this week with John Taylor taking on Beaver Brae, Tec Voc facing off against St. Norbert, and Fort Frances playing Portage.

CFC100 CLASS 2026 RANKINGS

  • We had another paradigm shift in the Saskatchewan South Rural League where Central were able to correct their wrongs from the last time they faced Weyburn to come away with a pivotal 21-7 victory in the semifinals. The win means they now earned the chance to take on Greenall in the league finals with a trip to the 5A Provincial semifinals on the line, and more importantly we are guaranteed a new CFC25 Small School National champion with the Eagles demise. Waiting on the other side will be the winner of the 5A Saskatoon title between Bishop J. Mahoney and Aden Bowman, meanwhile F.W. Johnson look to make it a perfect sweep in Regina when they take on Thom in the RIFL Stewart Division finals. The winner from Regina will take on the winner of the North Saskatchewan League finals between Carlton and Martensville. Let the madness begin.
  • The last major shift in the top ten was College de Levis failing to live up to the hype with a devastating 30-0 loss to Deux-Montagnes. This leaves the Centurions in sole possession of the top seed going into the final week of the regular season with a huge logjam behind them stocked full of talented programs that could make a run if they get hot at the right time. One of the programs to watch is Roger-Comtois, who make their triumphant return to the top 25 after a tight 24-23 win over Triolet gifted them the chance to host a quarterfinals matchup if they can take care of business against College de Levis, who will be eager to bounce back and gain some momentum going into the playoffs.

CFC STAR RANKINGS DATABASE

  • If you love chaos, then the Alberta playoffs were made for you. We have Hunting Hills looking to redeem themselves in the Central Alberta League semifinals against Sylvan Lake after crashing back down to earth with a tough 38-7 loss to Notre Dame (Red Deer) in the season finale. Our second ranked Alberta program Holy Rosary will be looking to secure their spot in the Wheatland League finals with a semifinals contest against Bonnyville, which shouldn’t cause any issues after defeating the Voyageurs 60-0 earlier in October. St. Joseph’s punched their ticket to the Mighty Peace League finals against Grande Prairie after defeating Sexsmith 17-0 in the semifinals this week. Medicine Hat go back-t0-back against Catholic Central with a rematch in the Southern Alberta League 4A semifinals after defeating the Cougars 39-3 to cap off their regular season campaign last week. Lastly just to add a little more confusion and cahos, the reigning Tier II provincial champions Austin O’Brien ended the regular season on a high note with a 41-2 victory over Bev Facey, and have already clinched their spot in the Tier II Alberta Bowl playdowns where they will take on St. Joseph’s on November 9th. Hunting Hills have also already clinched a spot in the playdowns despite still having to compete for the Central Alberta League title. See, that wasn’t too complicated to follow was it?

  • We end this week with a quick look at the landscape in British Columbia with only two weeks left before the playoffs commence. The margins are tight at the top with Vernon, Windsor, Robert Bateman, John Barsby and Holy Cross all still undefeated in regular season action, but we will finally get some clarity with John Barsby taking on Windsor this week, and next week a showdown between Robert Bateman and Holy Cross in the season finale. It’s about to get spicy on the West Coast.
