- Whoever is writing the scripts in Saskatchewan this year deserves an Oscar. It finally looked like Greenall had cracked the code after switching from the RIFL Stewart Division to the South Rural League this season, but despite running the table in the regular season, they met the same fate in the championship game with Central prevailing 32-7 to advance to the 5A Saskatchewan Provincial semifinals. Central have managed to catch fire at the perfect time to right their wrongs from the regular season by enacting revenge on Weyburn and Greenall in back-to-back weeks, and now face their biggest test of the year against Bishop J. Mahoney, who closed out their Saskatoon campaign with a decisive 42-6 victory over Aden Bowman to reclaim the 5A city title. On the other side of the bracket, F.W. Johnson had zero problems completing their perfect run through Regina with a 44-3 blowout against Thom in the RIFL Stewart Division finals, and now prepare to take on Carlton in the semifinals. While Bishop J. Mahoney have been perennial front-runners in recent years with their last title coming in 2022, this is new territory for Central and F.W. Johnson, who if our records are correct haven’t appeared in the provincial finals since 2007 for Central, and 2003 for F.W. Johnson. It’s been a special season across Saskatchewan so far, and we have a feeling the script writers still have a few plot twists up their sleeves.
CFC100 CLASS 2026 RANKINGS
- We’ve got a lot of coverage to fit into a tiny box from Alberta, so buckle up. First we start with our number one ranked team Holy Trinity Academy, who bounced back with a huge 51-3 victory over Strathmore in their regular season finale. The Knights now head to the South Central Zone 2 finals to take on W.H. Croxford, where both teams will ultimately advance to the Tier II quarterfinals with the championship bout determining their seeding in the playdowns. Next up is St. Joseph’s, who brought home another Mighty Peace banner to hang in the rafters with their 34-15 victory over Grande Prairie in the finals. They now have the opportunity to rest up before they take on Austin O’Brien in the Tier II provincial quarterfinals on November 9th. Now we turn our attention to Medicine Hat, who are on their way to the South Alberta League finals against Chinook after defeating Catholic Central 36-0 in the semis. The Hawks will advance to the Tier II provincial quarterfinals if they are able to take care of business against the Coyotes. Lastly, Hunting Hills have already punched their ticket to the Tier II provincial quarterfinals where they will battle Cold Lake, but still have one more task to take care of with a rematch against Notre Dame (Red Deer) in the Central Alberta League finals, who are the only team to best them this year in a dominant 37-8 showing.
CFC STAR RANKINGS DATABASE
- There’s only four teams left standing in the WHSFL AAA playoff bracket after John Taylor defeated Beaver Brae 19-10, and Tec Voc flew past St. Norbert with a 30-7 victory. The semifinals promise to provide fireworks with John Taylor taking on Dryden, and Tec Voc preparing to take on the defending champions from Fort Frances. The top three seeds have all taken turns landing blows this season with John Taylor’s only loss coming to Fort Frances in week one, Tec Voc’s only loss coming at the hands of John Taylor, and Fort Frances suffering one of their two losses on the year to Tec Voc. Now the looming question – is it time for Dryden to land a fatal blow? It wouldn’t be the first, or last upset we’ve witnessed in the postseason across Canada this year.
- It’s time to check-in with our Ontario cohorts, where Holy Cross advanced to the COSSA finals against Adam Scott after shutting down Fenelon Falls 26-0 in the semifinals. The winner of the COSSA championship will advance to the OFSAA Bowl Series, where we are awaiting the announcement of this year’s bowl game matchups.

- We’ve been asking for some clarity in the British Columbia AA Varsity league, and we finally got a clear answer after Windsor proved they are true championship contenders with an easy 57-15 victory over John Barsby, who were undefeated in regular season action heading into the contest. That leaves Windsor, Vernon, Robert Bateman and Holy Cross as the final four unbeaten teams sitting atop their respective divisions, but we’re guaranteed to lose one of them this week with Robert Bateman taking on Holy Cross in their regular season finale. We are salivating waiting for the AA playoff bracket to begin.

- We wrap-up this week’s coverage in Quebec where it’s officially playoff time with the regular season in the books. For what feels like the first time this season, there were no dramatic shifts in the rankings with a predictable final week, but the heat is about to be cranked to the max with every program in the playoff bracket having a realistic chance to go on a run if they can get every man on the roster pulling in the right direction. We’ve got four fantastic quarterfinal matchups to look forward to with top seed Deux-Montagnes taking on Estacades for the second week in a row, Dalbe-Viau preparing for a gritty showdown against Triolet, College de Levis facing off against College Laval, and Roger-Comtois ready for battle against Saint-Joseph. There’s no turning back now, and we can’t wait to watch the madness unfold.
