- The crown belongs to Holy Trinity Academy again after a convincing 49-9 victory over St. Joseph’s left no questions about who’s the best Tier II program in Alberta this season. The Knights finish their campaign with a spectacular 10-1 record, and they could’ve easily gone undefeated if they didn’t go out of their way to put Raymond on their schedule, who ended up falling short to CFC50 top ranked Harry Ainlay in the Tier I finals. That one blemish may look like a negative in the standings, but in our eyes it’s the mark of a juggernaut program that isn’t afraid to test themselves against the best of the best, and puts their players in an uncomfortable situation where they maybe aren’t the best on the field. Which is important for a program like Holy Trinity Academy, who outside of their game against Raymond ran a gauntlet through the rest of their opponents scoring 40+ points in all 10 of their victories, and put up 50+ in half of them. When you tally up all 11 games, they ended up outscoring their competition 540-144 with their closest margin of victory being 32 points against Catholic Central. They’ve now made the Tier II finals five times in the last six seasons, and are the proud owners of three provincial banners.Β There’s only one word to describe the Knights this year – dominant.

- Now it’s time to talk about another dominant program in Alberta – the Holy Rosary Raiders. There was a long period in history where Holy Rosary were always the bridesmaid when they met Cochrane in the Tier III provincial finals with the Cobras getting the best of the Raiders in six straight championship games between 2015-2021. Despite winning the last two Tier III titles, you have to believe that their 22-3 victory over Cochrane this year meant just a little bit more as they finally exorcised their demons from the past in triumphant fashion. From an outsiders perspective it might look strange to have the Tier III champions in the top three on our list, but in reality Holy Rosary earned their ranking with the type of season that only happens once in a lifetime. The Raiders were almost flawless in their 13 game campaign outscoring their opponents 557-11. Yes – you read that correct. Their defence held teams to less than 1 point per game, and finished the year with nine shutouts including a five game streak where they didn’t allow a single point. And for anyone wondering how they would do against Holy Trinity Academy? They do have one common opponent in George McDougall, who lost to Holy Rosary 20-1 in the season opener, and then ended their season with a loss to Holy Trinity Academy in the Tier II semifinals 57-24. That’s a fantasy matchup we will never get to watch, but we believe Holy Rosary had what it takes to compete in the Tier II playdowns this year.
- Holy Cross can finally call themselves OFSAA champions after defeating Northern 23-4 in the Eastern Bowl. This was their second ever appearance at the OFSAA Football Festival with their first ending in tears after losing to Korah in the Northern Bowl back in 2019. When it comes to OFSAA, you never know when you’ll get your chance again, and Holy Cross took full advantage of their second trip to Windsor with a convincing win over the Toronto public champions to cap off a perfect 8-0 season. They had a bit of a scare in week two with a close 28-20 win over Fenelon Falls, but the Hurricanes just kept getting stronger as the year went on and ended up outscoring their competition 142-19 in their final six games including three shutout performances. It would’ve be fun to be a fly on the wall for that bus trip back to Peterborough with the OFSAA banner riding shotgun.
CFC100 CLASS 2026 RANKINGS
- It’s all quiet on the Western front with just one game left to play in British Columbia before we wrap up another high school season in Canada. Vernon and Windsor have been our top two BC programs since they first met in the season opener, so it’s very fitting we get the rematch everyone has been anticipating. Windsor couldn’t find the answers that day with the defending champions walking away with a 21-0 victory, but that result will be ancient history when these two lineup at BC Place with the AA Varsity title on the line. The Wolves will be feeling confident after a decisive 44-28 victory over perennial contenders Robert Bateman in the semifinals, while the Panthers will be feeling the same type of momentum after sending College Heights packing in a 36-14 blowout. Vernon are in search of back-to-back championships, and their fourth in six seasons. On the other sideline, Windsor are hoping to recapture the AA title for the first time since 2017, and what would be their seventh in program history. Breakout the popcorn because we think this one is going to live up to all the hype.
