- Harry Ainlay are the kings of Alberta once again after defeating Raymond 37-14 in the Tier I provincial finals. It’s been a long journey back to the summit for the Titans, who suffered heartbreaking defeats in the provincial playdowns the last two seasons at the hands of Ernest Manning and Raymond, but this time around they left no margin for error putting together dominant performances when it mattered most outscoring their three opponents in the playdowns 163-22 – and it was fitting they had to go through Ernest Manning and Raymond to get the job done. Their season ends how it began with a victory over Raymond, but not many could’ve predicted the Titans would pull away in the title game after their first matchup went down to the wire 21-18. That was the closest they’d come to defeat all year long, and it was never close again with their next closest margin of victory being 22 points against Ross Shepperd in the Edmonton Metro semifinals, and no other team was able to match Raymond’s offensive output against their vaunted defence. When you add up the numbers, the Titans outscored their competition 648-88 as they put together a flawless 14-0 campaign, which featured 11 games where they scored 40+ points, and 11 games where they allowed single digits. This is their fifth provincial banner since 2011, and they are now sitting comfortably in pole position to be crowned the CFC50 National Champions for the first time in school history.

- The OFSAA Football Festival kicks off today, and rest assured we will bring you all of the results next week in our final ranking of the year. The finals spots at the festival were locked down by Centennial with a massive 40-19 victory over Jacob Hespeler in the CWOSSA finals. This marks the first time Centennial will be dancing at OFSAA in school history as they prepare to take on Westmount in the Southern Bowl. Westmount were hoping for a little more, but were humbled by A.N. Myer in the SOSSA finals 35-13, which means the Marauders have earned the right to take on top ten ranked Corpus Christi in the Golden Horseshoe Bowl after the Longhorns sent Bishop Tonnos home empty handed with a 35-21 victory in the GHAC Finals. St. Joseph will be representing Ottawa at OFSAA for the second year in a row after defeating St. Mark 16-2 in the city finals, which means they are now on a collision course with St. Roch in the Central Bowl. Lastly, W.F. Herman secured a showdown with Catholic Central in the Western Bowl after squeezing by a tough Northern squad 21-15 in the SWOSSAA finals. Thankfully, it’s not the end of the road for Northern either, who advance to take on Brebeuf College in the Eastern Bowl. Let the games begin.

- What. A. Game. Sometimes there’s a contest where the loser just runs out of time to reply, which was sadly the case for W.J. Mouat in the British Columbia AAA semifinals where they fell a dollar short to South Delta in a wild 43-42 shootout. After W.J. Mouat scored the go-ahead touchdown with a little over a minute left on the clock, the Sun Devils had just enough time to get back into scoring position in the dying seconds to make the score 42-41, and then their coaching staff bet it all on red with a gutsy two-point conversion call that paid off giving the Hawks no chance to reply in what might’ve been the game of the year across Canada. South Delta now need to recalibrate for the ultimate rematch against the reigning champions Vancouver College, who breezed past Lord Tweedsmuir in the other semifinal to secure their third straight trip to the AAA finals with their eyes on becoming the first program to three-peat since Mount Douglas won four in a row from 2010-2013. Ironically, South Delta are hunting for their first provincial title since 2014 when they brought an end to the Rams winning streak at BC Place. Sometimes the storylines just write themselves.
