TOP HEADLINES
- We’ve got a lot of headlines to get to this week, so please excuse our rapid fire format. Our first bullet flies in Saskatoon where St. Joseph finally figured out the winning combination against Holy Cross at the perfect time to take home the Saskatoon 6A city title with an epic 38-34 comeback victory. They were looking down the barrel at the end of the first half facing a 28-14 deficit, but the Guardians rallied in the second half to secure their spot in the 6A Provincial finals for the second time in three years. On the other side of the bracket, Campbell brought an end to LeBoldus’ Cinderella run with a 28-20 victory to take home their first Regina city title since 2017, which is also the last time they raised the provincial banner. For St. Joseph, they are looking to claim their first provincial championship since 2003, which would also bring an end to the city-wide drought that dates back to 2009 when Aden Bowman last brought the trophy back to Saskatoon. Either way, we are about to crown a new champion in Saskatchewan.

CFC100 CLASS 2026 RANKINGS
- It’s time to check-in with the chaotic Alberta football landscape where they’ve been handing out hardware left, right and centre this past week. Harry Ainlay would not be denied another Edmonton Metro Carr Conference title with a dominant41-7 victory over Spruce Grove. The Titans now prepare to take on Notre Dame (Red Deer), who completed their perfect campaign in Central Alberta League with a 34-24 victory over Hunting Hills in the championship game. Now we will find out what this group of Cougars is all about with a chance to play the ultimate spoiler in the Alberta Bowl provincial quarterfinals. Raymond will enter the quarterfinals as the second seed after a huge 38-7 statement victory over Lethbridge CI in the Southern Alberta Zone finals. Then in Cowtown, St. Francis were able to hold on in a tight 24-22 contest against Ernest Manning to reclaim the Calgary city title. There will be three programs representing Calgary in the playdowns with Notre Dame getting one more bite at the apple after falling to Ernest Manning in the city semifinals. St. Francis will take on Lethbridge CI, Ernest Manning will battle Spruce Grove, while Notre Dame get the opportunity to knockoff Raymond. With the weather beginning to turn in Alberta, you can always expect the unexpected in November.
CFC STAR RANKINGS DATABASE
- There’s now where left to hide. It might have been an anti-climatic semifinals week in Manitoba with Dakota defeating Grant Park and Oak Park fighting off St. Paul’s, but now we get the matchup we’ve all be waiting for at Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg. Dakota and Oak Park have strolled through the season so far handing out fat L’s every step of the way, but now one of these undefeated juggernauts must fall in the ANAVETS Bowl. Let’s hope they rollback their classic matchup from last year’s semifinals that saw Dakota sneak away with a 24-23 victory before going on to defeat Grant Park in provincial finals.
- Ontario is usually drama free until the regional playdowns take place, but we had an upset for the ages in Niagara where Sir Winston Churchill shocked A. N. Myer in the public league finals 35-31. To put this into perspective, the Marauders had won 48 straight league games dating back to 2017 (thank you BPSportsNiagara for the stat). The saving grace is that this isn’t the end A. N. Myer’s season just yet with the NRHSAA hosting the SOSSA playdowns, which means they get two bids instead of one. It’s going to be very interesting to watch how the Marauders respond to adversity, and how the Bulldogs handle unchartered territory.

- Northern have prevailed as the champions in Toronto after defeating Western Tech in a wild 36-35 overtime showdown in the TDSSAA finals. Northern will now take on Brebeuf in the Toronto Bowl this week with both programs earning a spot at the OFSAA Football Bowl Series. Elsewhere in the province, we’ve got some big-time championship bouts with Bishop Tonnos taking on St. Thomas More in the Hamilton Catholic league finals, Westdale going to war with Westmount in the Hamilton Public league finals, and Catholic Central looking for revenge against unbeaten Sir Frederick Banting in the TVRA Tier I finals. Lastly we congratulate Centennial on taking home the D10 league title in Guelph after dismantling Bishop Macdonnell 45-3, and St. Roch on another ROPSSAA title after handing Robert F. Hall their first loss of the year 22-12. It’s going zero to 100 quickly in Ontario so stay tuned for an overdose of coverage in the upcoming weeks.
- We flip our attention to the Maritimes where Charles P. Allen and Bay View are preparing for a colossal rematch in the Nova Scotia provincial finals. The last time these two met it ended in a 22-22 draw, so there’s no telling which one of these powerhouse programs will prevail – but we do know there will be a new champion with Auburn Drive outta the picture. Charles P. Allen are hoping to make history as the first team to raise the provincial banner in school history, while Bay View are looking to write a new chapter in their school’s history as the first team to win the provincial title as the Bay View Sharks after changing the name of the school in 2021. In New Brunswick, Tantramar will be looking to claim their first provincial title since 2019 against Riverview, who are looking to build a dynasty of their own as they look to three-peat. Tantramar should be the heavy favourites after handing Riverview a 37-0 loss in the season opener, but that game is now ancient history and anything can happen once the whistle blows.

- It’s time for a quick check-in with Quebec where there surprisingly wasn’t any upsets in the quarterfinals. However, things are about to get extra spicy this week with Cure-Antoine-Labelle taking on Saint-Francois, and Charles-Lemoyne battling the reigning champs Saint-Jean-Eudes in the semifinals. Might as well throw all four programs in a hat and pick out the Bol d’Or finalists because anything can happen this week.
- We wrap things up in British Columbia where it’s finally playoff time. It’s going to be a super competitive bracket filled with marquee matchups beginning in the quarterfinals where nobody can afford to overlook their opponents. Vancouver College and South Delta have earned themselves byes, while third seed W.J. Mouat face off against St. Thomas More, fourth seed Lord Tweedsmuir take on Mt. Boucherie, fifth seed G.W. Graham battles Carson Graham, and our last ranked program New Westminster are preparing to take on Notre Dame as the sixth seed. We can’t wait to watch the madness unfold.
